Sometimes called "Up Over My Head", this simple, powerful gospel tune was made famous by Sister Rosetta Tharpe. During the civil rights era it became a protest song by substituting the words "freedom" and "justice" for "music". This traditional gospel arrangement featuring piano and church organ is perfect for a soloist, a choir, or both! Choirs behind a soloist can echo the first three lines of each verse immediately after the soloist for instant easy harmony, and sing the last line with the soloist in unison. Verse four goes up a whole step for dramatic effect, and slows down at the end for a big finish.

Child of God is a traditional Black gospel hymn that doubles well as a song for Christmas worship services. The song captures the essence of enduring faith through hardship in its title verse, and was used as a song for slaves to communicate on the underground railroad as they escaped to freedom; undoubtedly, the song today is a testimony to spiritual freedom through faith. Our version is a simple, easy going swing, which is great for Jazz and Gospel services, and the arrangement sings through five times, with the fifth verse being a powerful restatement of “tell them I’m a child of God.”

One the most famous pieces of Baroque music, the beautiful Air from Johann Sebastian Bach's Orchestral Suite #3 in D Major is commonly performed as a prelude at weddings, graduations, and other special occasions. A later arrangement that made the melody playable on one string of the violin gave it the nickname "Air on the G String." Often arranged for soloists, this recording is from Bach's original score for string orchestra.
